SAPS
THE ULTIMATE
IN MODEM SHARING
Share the
serial ports of your network with SpartaCom modem sharing software (SAPS).
SAPS (SpartaCom's Asynchronous
Port Sharing) is the ultimate software for peer to peer sharing
of COM ports between LAN workstations. Sharing COM ports means sharing
resources like modems, ISDN adapters, X.25 PADs or in fact any device that
connects to a COM port!
SAPS gives you completely transparent
access to shared resources for outbound communications and operates in
any networking environment: Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 3.X and DOS.
SAPS supports all NetBIOS compatible
protocols: TCP/IP, NetBEUI, IPX, ..
With SAPS you can:
 |
Save money by sharing resources |
 |
Make optimal usage of available
hardware |
 |
Reduce the cost of installing and
maintaining dedicated phone lines |
 |
Efficiently control the online
communication costs |
 |
Provide users with a transparent
access to shared modems |
 |
Offer all or selected users access
to the outside world |
RAS
Compatibility:
SAPS works with Remote Access Server
technology. Administrators can now pool modems for outbound calls that
were previously dedicated to remote communications. Hardware Independent:
SAPS is completely independent of the type of shared hardware resources
(modems, ISDN adapters, X.25 PADs, etc.) being specified by the client
workstations
Applications
Supported:
Shared COM ports can be used by all
asynchronous applications working under Windows and complying with the
Serial Communications interface specified by Microsoft.
Speed:
SAPS for Windows NT can support communication
speeds of up to 115.2 Kb/s. High speed communications can be achieved with
appropriate supporting hardware.
Server Security:
Password protection (optional) is incorporated
for accessing each shared resource and is workstation independent. Verification
as to whether the user is declared on the workstation is provided.
Sharing:
SAPS provides simultaneous sharing
of several local communications ports (COMn), and automatic startup of
the SAPS Server when the system is switched on.
BENEFITS
Administration:
Significant events which occur on any
of the shared communications ports (user connected, calls, etc.) are recorded
in the Windows NT event log. This data can be particularly useful for controlling
usage and for invoicing purposes.
Saving Money:
Save money by controlling online communications
costs and at the same time reduce the cost of installing and maintaining
dedicated multiple phone lines.
Port Sharing:
Share up to an unlimited number of
ports with SAPS server software.
Hardware Management:
Improve utilization of current hardware
while reducing the need for additional hardware.
